Team Award-J

Today is it J's turn! This past month we celebrated L with his reading, C with his driving, and now it is J's turn with his 6th grade award.  At the end of 6th grade his school has a celebration for each of the grades (and tracks). The teachers had emailed me a few days before letting me know J would be receiving one of the awards, we were not told which one. J's first award was for being a peer tutor, next he received the integrity award for the 6th grade class. He was also recognized for straight A's. One of his favorite awards was voted on by the 6th grade students. He did a report on The Wright Brothers which earned the Time Magazine Award from his peers. The celebration went on with each of the teachers picking a top student from each class. At the end of the celebration they had two trophies, one for most improved and the second was for the Team Award, the one all the teachers voted was the top student. J was so excited when he won the trophy. What a year!  We are so proud of him not only for winning this award but for adjusting to this new school. A year ago he walked into this school knowing 2 girls, he started 3 days late (he may have been at a soccer camp:) and it was middle school! He did great! He had no problem making new friends, catching up on everything, and jumping right into middle school life. I can't believe the first year of middle school is over, now it is time for 7th grade!
