10th Grade

I cried yesterday. Yes, I have been sending this boy off for school for the past 11 years (plus preschool) and it does not get an easier. This time I watched C walk out the door in the dark and my heart sank. Time is going by so quickly and I just sent a sophomore out the door. I only have three more years and then I will be sending him off to college. Oh my! I know next year will be hard because I will watch him drive off to school. Then I can not even think about his senior year! I guess this year was hard because he has grown 6 inches in the past 7 months. He is no longer this little guy that looked up to me with those blue eyes and said it will be ok mommy. Now he looks right at me, rolls his eyes, and sighs. He does know how to make this mom feel special. He woke up 5 minutes early just because he knew he was not leaving this house without our yearly picture. He knew I would need an extra few minutes to ask him if he has everything and to wish him good luck on his first AP test. I tried to drive him down to the bus stop and I got the look, definitely not going to push it. Instead as the tears flowed he gave me an extra tight hug and was off.  I spent the day playing with the twins, making the house spotless, counting down the minutes to find out how his day was, and a lot of time in prayer!

C is home!! The twins were so excited to see C walk thru the door, they missed their big brother today!

Toddler Time

For the past two weeks I have been busy planning the twins fall schedule (thank you Pinterest for all the ideas). With two at home I need some type of organization plus I just love this age. People ask me all the time what we do at home and how I do it. When the boys were little we were very involved with playgroups, the little gym, and the moms club. With these two the mornings are the only time I get to spend with them when it is quiet. They get a lot of playtime in the afternoons with the big boys and with their friends at the soccer field. I wish I was brave enough to do more parks and outings but I am just not there yet. Instead we stay busy here at the house!

*Every day of the week I do a different activity with them.
Monday-Painting

Tuesday-Play-doh

Wednesday- Sensory Table

 Thursday- Water Table

Friday- Baking

*For the Fall/Winter I have weekly themes. With the themes the twins will do a craft, coloring sheets,  and the daily activity. I also have books that go along with the theme that will go out in our weekly basket. As a treat they will watch a special show or movie that goes along with theme. When the boys are on break we plan to do a few field trips.

Sept 1- Shapes and Colors
Sept 8- Brown Bear
Sept 15- Farm Animals (Movie- Mickey Mouse Clubhouse-farm)
Sept 22- Transportation (Field Trip-Pullen Park to ride the train) (Movie- Cars or Planes)
Sept 29-Pirates/Princesses (Movie- Jake and Sophia)
Oct 6- Sports (Field Trip- Marbles)
Oct 13- Fall (Field Trip-Hill Ridge Farm)
Oct 20- Pumpkins (Local pumpkin patch)
Oct 27-Halloween (Trick-or-treat)
Nov 3-Music (movie- Little Einstein)
Nov 10- Weather
Nov 17- Thanksgiving
Nov 24- Thanksgiving/Family
Dec 1- Christmas
Dec 8- Christmas Trees
Dec 15- Christmas Nativity

Our morning schedule....
5:45 Mom wakes up and makes a very strong cup of coffee :)
6:30 Twins up, playtime and breakfast
7:20 stand at the door and wave goodbye to the brothers
7:21 the twins stare at us like now what!
7:30 Playtime in the playroom (play, coloring, reading books)
8:30 Head outside for morning playtime in the driveway and walk
9:30 snack and watch Disney Jr.
10:00 morning activity
10:30 clean up and playtime
11:15 lunch
11:45 naptime!

The afternoon never has a set schedule---it all depends on what activity is going on, which older brother is home, is mommy helping with homework???  The morning schedule is not always perfect either! One child may not want to do the craft that day or decide they would rather paint the house then the cute little shape Mommy cut out. Someone may be sick. It may be a beautiful fall day in the middle of August so we spend the entire day outside! Some days Mommy may need a trip to Target followed by stops at Chick-fil-a and Krispy Kreme!

It is sad to say good bye to summer but I think the twins and I are ready to say Hello to Fall!!

Week 32 and 33

The summer is officially coming to an end. J and L have been in school but next week we send C off to 10th grade too. We are trying to enjoy every last minute we can!

The past two Friday nights have been dedicated to family night!
*The first Friday night I took one picture and then put away the camera so I could enjoy playing with the kids. Everyone watched Frozen with the twins, we had pizza, made sundaes, and most of the family joined in a Dance Party with the Wii. After the twins went down we watched Divergent.
*Last Friday Eric had to work so the kids and I loaded up the car and headed over to my parents house for a cookout. They had so much fun spending time with their grandparents. I love that they are so close so we can invite ourselves over for dinner :)

*Fall Soccer Season has started! Eric had his first game and J had two scrimmages.

*I prepared a toddler bag for the fall season. For some reason the twins do not want to be strapped in the stroller for an hour and half anymore :( M wants to run on the field so this may be a long season while we learn the word NO and stay by mommy! A loves to sit on the blanket with the other siblings.

*On Sunday night C and I headed out for back to school shopping and dinner.
*My other set of twins :) I noticed as these two were heading off to the bus stop they both picked the same jersey for the day.
