This past week we took time away from the crazy schedule of our lives to have some quiet family time. It was just what we all needed. We are always taking trips for soccer but we never take time out to stop and breathe. I would love to end each year with a few days away. It was the perfect time to stop and reflect on our past year. We played card games, we watched family movies, we cried over the heartache we experienced over the year, we laughed so hard tears flowed. We also spent time talking about what we want for next year, everyone set goals they would like to accomplish. We planned future family trips. We told the boys to put the electronics down and go run around the mountain and to come back when the sun was setting. We sat around and said nothing. We enjoyed the quiet, read books, caught up on the blog, and enjoyed the beauty outside our windows. We did make one family trip down the mountain to visit the Mast General Store. When Eric saw his dad in November he gave him a picture of the Mast store. It was a place Eric's family grew up visiting. It was great to be able to take our kids to the same place and take picture for his dad and uncles to see. We wanted to carry on the tradition for his family to visit the store, let the kids pick out candy, and Eric and I bought some old fashioned sodas in the cold, glass bottles. Such sweet memories.
