New Mom Advice
I am a mom to 5...Teenage boy (14) Tween boy (11) boy (9) and boy/girl twins (16 months).
My best advice to new moms is to LET IT GO!!
This is so easy to type but so hard to practice.
With Baby #1 I would take everything so personal. I would be so hard on myself. I was a SAHM, this was my job, it should be perfect. When I would pick my little one up from preschool and they would say the dreaded words "Do you have a minute" ugh, my heart would sink. What am I doing wrong? I had to learn to let things go. Kids are going to have a bad day (week, year, etc) but they will grow out of it! As a new mom you need to let it go and give yourself a break.
Another piece of advice is to get connected with other moms. A support system is the best to get you through those sleepless nights or potty training period. It is great for those hard days but also those days you want to celebrate (like they actually ate the dinner you made!) Whether they are friends from a moms group, church, the blog world, it is so important to have someone you can turn to!
My last piece is to take time to yourself. This is easier to type too. Even if it is a 20 minute walk around the neighborhood you need to step out every so often to catch your breath.
Being a new mom is both wonderful and one of the hardest things. It is tiring and rewarding. All those sleepless nights are replaced with tight bear hugs. All those screams are replaced with sweet first words. Enjoy every moment, it really does go by so quickly!!

I found your blog through Kelly's Korner. I'm not a new mom, but I love following blogs of other moms with big families. We have 4 little ones. Glad I found your blog today. =)
