Disney Soccer Showcase

What a fun weekend away for soccer. It was great to attend a tournament at Disney in November instead of Detroit in February--Oh Yes!!! I am all for driving 10+ hours south instead of north.

J's team did a great job. This was the first time we played in this tournament and the boys knew it was not going to be easy. They fought hard all weekend to make it into the semifinals of the tournament. The team they played against was the number 3 team in the US. Our boys were able to keep the game 0-0, went to 2 overtimes, then it came down to penalty kicks. I hate this part of the game, it is heartbreaking! Our team missed one goal and it was over. The tears started flowing from the boys. All the mamas hearts were aching. Such a tough lesson for them to learn. After a great talk from the coach, the boys went on to celebrate making it to the semifinals. They walked the red carpet at the ESPN Worldwide Sports, they received their medals, they took their picture with Mickey, and then the smiles came back. The sting of defeat was still there but the thoughts that they held of one of the best teams in the nation was sinking in. That team had scored 15 goals on the other teams to make it to the semis and could not get one on us. That team had been attending this tournament and this was our first time. The boys all walked away with a new determination that they would be back! I have a feeling we will be celebrating more Thanksgivings at Disney World :) Congrats to the Jrs. Black team and J! We are so proud of you.

Thanksgiving

This year we did not have our normal Thanksgiving. For the first time we traveled for a soccer tournament with the family. I must admit I was not thrilled at first. I am not one for change, I am all about tradition. It was a little sad to miss out on time with the family and all of our usual Thanksgiving traditions but my husband is the best, he made our Thanksgiving perfect. After watching some of the Macy's parade we all loaded up the car and headed to Downtown Disney to walk around. The kids had a great time. A and I hit the princess side of the Disney Store :) That was a first for this family!

I think they are finished!

Later that day it was time for a little practice so the boys could get their legs stretched and ready for the tournament. It was so nice to be able to spend the afternoon outside in the beautiful Florida sunshine! The boys played soccer, the twins just ran and ran, and I enjoyed being able to take pictures of my sweet family.

A beautiful place to practice soccer, right by the water!

I love my daddy!

Daddy's Girl

For dinner J and I went with several other families out for deep dish pizza and a spaghetti dinner while Eric stayed behind at the hotel to get the twins ready for bed. After their busy day we knew there was no way they would make it through another outing at a restaurant.  It was so nice to be able to have adult conversation while the boys all sat at their own table. That was a wonderful Thanksgiving treat!!
While this day was not our typical Thanksgiving day it was just as special. I am so thankful for the family time we had with each other and the special time out with friends.
                                                     Happy Thanksgiving 2013!!

Midweek Randoms

1. Two Soccer tournaments are finished :) 3 more to go this year. Tomorrow C will be playing in his first college showcase tournament. 3 games/3days/all on the other side of town!

2. Soon we will be taking the twins on a long car ride--I am dreading it! I love that fact we will be in Florida but the idea of the car ride and hotel stay is giving me severe anxiety. I have the movies downloaded on the ipad, snacks bought, and new toys to entertain them. They are so active, they thought of them being strapped in for 10 hours--ugh!!

4.  Sometimes you just have to let the kids eat right out of the bag. The box of cheerios had a little left so I pulled out the bag and handed it to A. She sat down on the floor and waited for M to come over then they both started their snack. It was so sweet, they both kept looking up smiling :) They did great sharing with each other and ate every last one in the bag.

6. Cheerios. I caught M helping himself the other day.

 7.  My sweet kids....I just love these 5!!
