This year Christmas Eve started off perfect! The big boys all went out for a soccer pick-up while the twins and I did last minute touches for our quiet family Christmas Eve dinner. We finished all the decorations, the candles were lit, the Christmas music was playing. Abby and I decided to do one last minute craft, making Christmas place cards for each seat. A few minutes into cutting out all the trees I knew the house got to quiet. Matthew came walking to me soaked.
I went to the kitchen to see if he had grabbed a cup off the counter, nope! Next the master bath, found it! Matthew decided to brush his teeth, when he did he pulled up the stopper on the sink. Water everywhere! Flowing off the counter, flowing into the other sink, all on the floor. By this time Matthew was hysterical crying. Abby was in the background telling him Mom said to never touch the stopper. Such a little mom. While the tears were flowing all the boys walked in. The house was loud, there was water everywhere, Matthew was crying. Joshua kept saying I would laugh about this one day, not there yet!
Eric took all the kids out so I could clean the bathroom, then I may have locked myself in the bedroom for an hour to pull myself back together!
After our Christmas Eve flood we started the baking for Santa cookies, we watched Christmas movies, we had our special Christmas Eve dinner, we had cake to celebrate Jesus' birthday, we opened our family gifts, and read Christmas books together. My favorite part of the day ended with all the big boys sleeping in the same room together. Next year the twins will get to join in this tradition. I love to hear all the sweet laughter that comes from the room.
