It breaks my heart to write we had to say goodbye to our other dog. My sweet Remmy became ill last week, after a week in the vet hospital it was time to let him go. Oh my heart aches.
It was so sudden. It is so hard to believe that 6 weeks later we are saying goodbye again :(
6 1/2 years ago we decided we would rescue a dog from one of the local rescue groups. I had contacted them about a sweet girl lab but after finding out she was not a good match for the boys (a little to active for her) they brought out this coonhound. He had the biggest smile on his face, a red bandana around his neck, and the boys fell in love. When she said he was already housebroken and then went into his back story I was sold. They found Remmy on the side of the road, he had been shot several times with a Remington shotgun. How could people be so cruel. This dog was coming home with us.
Remmy was a gift for Eric for Father's day but he quickly became my dog. This dog was my weather partner. Before we would hear the first thunder he was beside my bed whining away. I knew if Remmy woke us up the storm was going to be bad. It always amazed me that the storm would not even be near us yet but he knew it was coming. He was also right by my feet at all times. He knew he would get my last bite of food.
He loved his walks with Eric. The mention of grabbing his leash or the word walk and he was by the door ready to go. He would come back smiling away.

Oh goodness!! I'm so sorry!!
